Captain Henry Reserve Kirribilli Sydney Harbour Elopement Fiona & Bobby Photography

Fern + Jarred’s Sydney Harbour Elopement at Captain Henry Reserve

Fern and Jarred began their day at The Langham in Sydney, although not quite where you’d expect. When I arrived, they were already across the street at the tennis courts, racquets in hand and fully leaning into the fun of doing things their own way. It set the tone straight away — relaxed and playful.

Afterwards, we wandered through The Rocks and Circular Quay, letting the city move around us. There was no rush and no strict plan, just time to explore, talk, and take in the atmosphere before boarding a ferry across the harbour.

An Intimate Ceremony at Captain Henry Waterhouse Reserve, Kirribilli

Tucked away on the Kirribilli waterfront, Captain Henry Waterhouse Reserve is one of Sydney’s quieter harbour-side locations. With its grassy foreshore, historic naval ties, and uninterrupted views back toward the city skyline, it feels both peaceful and deeply connected to Sydney’s past. The reserve takes its name from early maritime history and remains a favourite for those wanting something simple, scenic, and quietly meaningful.

Fern and Jarred’s ceremony took place here with just four of their nearest and dearest — and their much-loved fur baby, Bijou — by their side. The ceremony was led by the wonderful Andrea Caldolce of Weekday Wedded Bliss, who brought warmth, ease, and a calm presence that made everything feel effortless and personal.

Harbour Portraits and a Riva Cruise at Sunset

After the ceremony, the day unfolded in true Sydney style. A friend had loaned Jarred a Riva, and the newlyweds stepped aboard for a slow cruise around Sydney Harbour. Photographing portraits on the harbour is always special — the shifting light, open water, and iconic surrounds create a sense of movement and freedom that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

With the skyline stretching out behind them and the city easing into evening, Fern and Jarred took it all in. The day never tried to be anything more than what it was: thoughtful, intimate, and deeply personal — a celebration shaped entirely around how they wanted to experience it.
