Newborn photos are ideal in the first few weeks of birth to capture that exquisite tininess. From the gentle sprouts of the fine hair on their head to the button nose, down to their miniature toes. It's a beautiful time to capture the slowness that exists in the first month.

After the first month, your baby will be a little more awake and alert and more likely to crave more frequent feeds. From months 4 onwards, they have moved out of their tiny phase, their eyes are open and searching and their movements have become a little more robust. It’s still a beautiful milestone to capture during this ever fleeting phase.

Maternity sessions are ideally in the 30-37 week, before you start to potentially feel uncomfortable in your skin and before your baby drops down in preparation for their earthly entrance. Everyone's journey is different though, so this is a just a little guide on timeframe.

If you opt for an outdoor session, golden hour is the best time of day to create something buttery and raw as the light is less harsh and leans into creating dreamy images.

If you decide to capture your session in your own home, there’s nothing more faithful than creating stories within the very environment that brings the most comfort and safety for you and your family. There’s something very raw that can be created from the sanctity of your home space when it’s just you, very little clothing and the subtlety of light streaming through the windows.
