You probably have dozens of questions floating around...this is after all a big celebration that you are organising. Until we sit down together, here's a few answers that might help you both in deciding whether we are the right fit for one another.
CAN YOU HELP US PLAN OUR RUN SHEET?
Absolutely. Fi is a planning wiz and available every step of the way to help take the pressure off the planning process. She’ll create a flow for the day that gives you the chance to fully be present for your celebration.
WILL WE HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET ONE ANOTHER BEFORE THE WEDDING?
We would expect nothing less. We believe in the importance of connection and that extends to creating a little bit of magic between us in the photo taking process.
Do you capture LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC celebrations?
An unequivocal YES. We believe in love - simple as that. We are all free to make the choice of who we love in our lives. We embrace diversity in all its wonderful forms.
HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR IMAGES?
A highlight gallery will be ready for you within 10 days of your wedding. Your full gallery will be ready within 10 weeks.
DO YOU SHOOT ELOPEMENTS?
Heck yeah! Reach out about our elopement rates. We have been lucky enough to shoot such an intimate adventure between souls, and also acted as witnesses. It would be an honour to do so again.
Do you offer discounts?
For all our returning couples wanting to invest their maternity, family, newborn session with us, or even another life event, we offer a $200 discount off the session.
Is it true that Bobby was in the 80's teenage romcom, Teen Witch?
Yes, it's true. He won't admit it. He'll deny that it's him. It's hard to imagine him with that much hair...but it's him.
The famous Coke Machine scene - there's a brief cameo. Look for the frustrated Persian kid wearing his blue jeans and his dad's leather jacket while standing in line behind Robyn Lively.
HOW MANY PHOTOGRAPHERS TURN UP ON OUR DAY?
For elopements, either Fiona or Bobby will lead as a solo shooter. For all other weddings, we shoot together as a husband and wife team.
We have an emphatically driven way of storytelling and bring a depth of experience along with two unique ways of seeing the same thing.
Do you run the business together?
We run everything in the back end of this little business together. Nothing gets past both of our eyes before it comes through to you.
Bobby is a master of the editing process and pays close attention to every element before it reaches your eyes. Fi is an admin overachiever and will never leave you waiting on an email response for longer than 48 hours.
HOW LONG SHOULD WE SCHEDULE OUR PORTRAITS?
We usually recommend 30 mins with your wedding party and an additional 45 mins for your wedding portraits. But every single wedding day is different and we’ll help curate a timeline that’ll give you ample time for your portraits and mingling time with your guests.
HOW LONG HAVE YOu BOTH BEEN SHOOTING WEDDINGS?
Bobby has been documenting weddings since 2001 and ran his own business back in Los Angeles, CA. Once moving to Sydney in 2012, we continued the adventure, and Fi joined along. Fi turned her passion full time as of April 2016.
WE ARE SUPER AWKWARD IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA AND WOULD PREFER TO KEEP IT ALL CANDID. WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE?
Truth be told, each and every one of us is super awkward in front of the camera. We'll be there every step of the way, with a subtle direction or two to help you forget about the cameras in our hand. We have a plethora of ways to make you feel disarmed and comfortable, whether you're introverted or extroverted.
Be weird, be loud, be intimate, be quirky…but more importantly, just be you.
WHAT’S THIS I keep HEARing ABOUT “good LIGHT” ON A WEDDING DAY?
The best time of day for your portraits is typically in the lead up to the last 2 hours of sunset. In Summer, the sun sets much later in the day, so try to schedule in an additional 10 mins during that time to sneak out of the reception for some alone time…with us. We promise to be a chill third wheel.
What resolution can we expect for the photos we'll receive?
Both high and low resolution. High resolution for printing and low resolution for sharing on social media.
CAN WE INVEST IN A FINE ART ALBUM or Fine art Prints?
Big yes. The biggest injustice to your wedding imagery is to keep them on a computer – even though we live in a digitally driven era. The best way to relive your memories and to bring it all back to life is to invest in a Fine Art Album or framed prints. Nothing beats the tangible feel of having your memories and experiences on display in your home.
Do you have backup cameras and equipment?
Absolutely. We bring 4 camera bodies to each wedding, accompanied by a variety of lenses and flash units. We also back up all image files in multiple drives to ensure nothing is lost.
Will you travel for our wedding day?
Most of our wedding adventures are located in either Sydney, Blue Mountains or the South Coast, but love to travel further if the opportunity comes up. Reach out if you are getting married interstate or internationally.
Do you watermark your images?
Absolutely not. They're your photos and they will be delivered to you unmarked.
WHAT TIME SHOULD WE HAVE OUR CEREMONY IN THE SUMMER / WINTER?
To be honest, it is hard to say because everyone’s day and flow of events are different. As a general rule, if you’re getting married in Summer consider having your ceremony start at something like 3.30pm and your reception a little later in the day. The Summer months can be harsh in light and incredibly sticky with heat.
To add videography or not to add videography?
We work pretty well with videographers. However, there’s some approaches that can clash with our approach and ultimately alter the way we preserve your story. If you're thinking of adding videography, please reach out so we can offer some recommendations on some of our favourite vendor friends.
You’ve not shot at our venue before, will that
be a problem?
We tend to always visit the venue before the wedding day (if time allows) to walk through the space, creatively play in the spaces available and storyboard where we visualise portraits to take place along with other elements of the day. It's nothing but a good thing if we haven’t worked at your venue before. Even if we haven’t shot there yet, we've probably heard and gushed over the space.
What creates a beautiful wedding?
A wedding is fundamentally about marriage - the weaving together of two individuals into a partnership to create a new life plump with possibilities. Creating a day you will look back on with full hearts means being truthful to who you are as individuals and bucking trends. Invite the people who bring you joy, who support you as people AND your marriage.
WHAT ARE YOU INSPIRED BY?
Our biggest inspiration is how people connect, watching the way they interact with one another, witnessing the subtle ways their bodies tell one another they're home in their presence.
How do you approach your wedding work?
We love learning about the intricacies of love through the eyes of our couples. We can only grow as people and in our art through the bonds we create with those we work with. Learning about life through our couples is why we do what we do.
When you invest is us, we invest in you - from the first email to our goodbyes hugs on the dance floor. Everything we do is about getting to know YOU as people so that your story shows others how you see each other.
WHAT IF IT RAINS ON OUR DAY?
While we can plan many aspects of our wedding day, weather has always been beyond our control. Consider investing in clear umbrellas for you and your wedding party, and have a backup location if your ceremony is outdoors. We can also put some steps in place if it looks like it’s going to be torrential.
Enjoy the process and remember...the most important thing is you’re marrying each other. Everything else is just icing on the cake.
Are you Insured?
Absolutely. We have public liability insurance. Should you need a copy for your reception venue, please let us know and we can provide a certificate of insurance.
How would you describe your imagery?
Relaxed, cinematic and poetically candid.
Everything we do is about celebrating connection and light between the two of you.
What's this I hear about you both being qualified counsellors?
We both completed a qualified diploma in counselling. Our training in counselling, with a specialisation in relationships, has given us an insight into connection, communication and the complexities between people which weaves in heavily in how we form a bond with the couples who invest with us.
Are there any vendors you can recommend?
Absolutely. Click the link below to see a list of our dream team.
