“Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.” Henry David Thoreau
Part 4 of 5 of my Portraits for Coffee was with Safa. You can see an explanation to my journey as to why this project started here.
Altruistic. Compassionate. Peaceful.
These are words that resonate when I think of the kind of person that Safa is. You sit down over a coffee with her, and a wave of calmness swells right over you. There’s not many people in the world that will have that affect on you. Yet, at the same time, you know that there is so much more to this individual than you could fathom. As we talked, we delved into the concept that there is beauty in growth in every minute aspect of our lives. Despite the challenges that we can all endure she spoke of how there is always the opportunity for growth and betterment within the sadness. You will meet very few people in this lifetime who have a deep sense of humility as they discuss what is core to their beliefs and what they put first in their journey. She is just the kind of person that you meet and believe that the world will be ok with people like her in in, fighting for what is right and just, and all the time loving all with an entire heart.
What a joy to have collaborated with you, Safa. We walked though a forest, played with nature and laughed as time lost itself in that moment of happiness.
